The University of New York in Prague was established in April 1998 in cooperation with the State University of New York, New Paltz, and the State University of New York, Empire State College. UNYP is the largest and most prominent English-language higher education institution in the Czech Republic.
UNYP uses the American style and approach to teaching students how to think not simple memorization. The class sizes are kept small under 30 students to facilitate discussion and critical thinking. Many classes use real life case studies and situations to illustrate learning through experience and critical thinking.
In 2009, a research budget was established at the University of New York in Prague to support the faculty in all of the departments in their research work, and to facilitate and increase the university’s research output. Since then, research at UNYP has developed steadily. Our faculty members are highly active in conducting significant research and publishing their work within the Czech Republic and abroad in academic journals, research conferences and books. UNYP faculty members also contribute to popular journals and magazines, and many are recognized as leading experts in their respective fields due to their media presence.
UNYP places a strong emphasis on the employability of its graduates. The UNYP Career Office offers a variety of services to UNYP students and graduates, as well as to companies. We pay close attention to organizing and participating in career and other related activities, assisting students with job applications, advising them on resumes, CVs and cover letters, and posting job vacancies on a daily basis. In 2015 the Czech Statistical Office announced that less than 1% UNYP students registered as unemployed.

The Student Services Center will take care of you from your arrival on the first day, through individual counselling during your studies on academic and personal matters, up to assistance and guidance in achieving your career goals that will continue even after your graduation.
We believe that it is very important that students pursue and enjoy activities outside the classroom, such as sports, fitness, cultural and social events and trips.
The University of New York in Prague is proud to be the very first private university in Prague to offer accommodation for its own students in the center of Prague, from March 2016.
Belgicka Residences by UNYP consist of two freshly-renovated buildings located at Belgická 24 and 26. The residences are centrally located in Prague’s Vinohrady neighborhood and only 100 meters from UNYP’s main campus on Londýnská, making it the most convenient housing option for our students.
Each building has five floors with five apartments on each floor. There are 25 apartments on offer with a total capacity of more than 120 beds. Most of the apartments have their own balcony or small terrace.
The University of New York in Prague Library is centrally located on the 1st floor of Londýnská 41, and has over 16,000 books, periodicals, and audio/visual materials (most in English, with a few foreign-language holdings).
Online library resources are available to all UNYP students through the ProQuest 5000 International set of databases.
UNYP students can use more than 60 computers located in two PC labs and in the Library. The computer facilities are open all day and at weekends.
Our E-learning is based on the Moodle system, which provides all necessary features for effective student-teacher communication, access to individual course materials, course discussion boards, assignments etc.
Campus life at UNYP is vibrant. Our campus is located in the beautiful Vinohrady neighborhood just 10 minutes’ walk to Prague’s historic center. Our main campus is located just 100 meters from our student residences where there is a restaurant and café for our students. In the main campus building students can enjoy the UNYP café as well as multiple lounge and study areas as well as the onsite library with more than 16.000 books.The UNYP Student council is very active planning weekly events for students including pancake breakfasts, freshman adaptation trips, parties, BBQs and even their very own TEDxUNYP! There is never a lack of things for students to get into at UNYP.
Athletic participation is a way for students to grow and learn and enjoy themselves and to use and develop their personal, physical and intellectual skills. UNYP provides all its students, faculty and staff members with free access to a variety of sports facilities. Sport and recreation are as an important part of student life, and through your participation in diverse athletic activities we hope to strengthen your ties with the UNYP community and make your experience at UNYP as enjoyable as possible.
You can take aerobics or dance classes, get involved in team and individual sports, such as playing soccer or basketball for the UNYP Blazers Teams, or work out at the gym or pool.

UNYP has triple accreditation from the UK, US and Czech Republic. UNYP has been accredited as an Independent Higher Education Institution by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) for Independent Further and Higher Education since 2001. The US accreditation for UNYP has been awarded for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
