UCL is a comprehensive university, with a wide range of subjects taught at all levels, and has the largest number of students in the French-speaking Community of Belgium. The research carried out within its three sectors of activity cover various fields of humanities, medical science and science and technology. Both fundamental (or undirected) and applied (or directed) research is conducted at UCL with the same unwavering enthusiasm. Education-wise, the medical sector is made up of four faculties (principally located on the Brussels Campus).Research in the medical sector is conducted in close partnership with the University Hospital Saint-Luc (Brussels) and the University Hospital of Mont-Godinne, as well as a network of 35 healthcare institutions, amongst which 24 hospitals (Réseau Santé Louvain).
The second UCL campus is located in Brussels itself and is home to the medical faculty and a major university hospital. After studying at 3 different university, I'd say chooosing one right for you matters a lot ! And a good university might not be good in your specific field. By 'not good' I mean : harrasement, devalorisation and so competitive that only 3 graduate from the bachelor after 3 years.
The range of courses and the freedom to choose your preferred courses were perfectly balanced. I have now the opportunity to do a second Erasmus at the Universitat de Barcelona.
What I really liked about my bachelor in Louvain-la-Neuve was meeting new people. I wasn't expecting making such good friends at university. What I disliked was the rating system, which may be tough
