The college was founded in 1972 and originally located within a religious school called Pro Deo University.It was named after 15th-century explorer Giovanni Caboto, also known as John Cabot.


Whether you are pursuing a four-year degree or are seeking to study abroad, you will do so in the heart of Rome surrounded by the extraordinarily rich offerings of a city of culture, history, art, creativity, business and international affairs.


The Istituto per lo Sviluppo della Formazione Professionale dei Lavoratori (ISFOL), the Italian government’s research center for professional education and the job market, has recently published a research paper (in Italian) on new learning spaces featuring John Cabot as one of its case studies.

Student Services

Our Immigration Services Office assists current students at John Cabot University throughout the Italian immigration process, providing them with the resources to obtain official student status in Italy. 

The Community Service Program’s objective is to build a caring community that is aware and respectful of the diverse realities that surround us.

Library services

Located in the Guarini Campus, the Frohring Library is a unique, dynamic, and highly appreciated learning environment open to all the members of the University community. It provides access to one of the best academic English language collections in Rome. 

ICT services

John Cabot University's four computer laboratories and the new Library Multimedia Laboratory provide a central point for students to work on computer science projects, prepare business presentations, write compositions and papers, check and send e-mail, and accessing internet.

Medical services

Italian law requires that all non-Italian students living in Italy have medical insurance, whether they need a Permit to Stay or not. John Cabot University works with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) to assist you in obtaining a high quality health insurance that will fulfill your immigration requirements.

Campus life

John Cabot University's two urban campus centers are located along the banks of the Tiber River in the historic center of Rome.

The Guarini campus hosts the Aula Magna Regina auditorium as well as the Frohring Library, one of Italy's most comprehensive English language libraries. The Guarini campus also hosts numerous study rooms, a multimedia lab and media room, a meditation garden, as well as JCU administrative offices.

JCU's Tiber Campus is located on the banks of Rome's famous Tiber river and a five-minute walk from Guarini. In addition to classrooms, the Campus houses offices such as Student Services and Immigration Services. It is also home to John Cabot University's cafeteria.

Sports facilities

Located inside the Gianicolo Residence, the gym is a top-rate facility open to the JCU community. It has treadmills, bicycles, and various cardiovascular machines as well as nautilus and free weights. Bilingual personal trainers and trained student assistants are on hand and ready to provide exercise and weight training support. The activity room hosts a number of classes including Latin dance, Zumba, Hip Hop, Pilates, Fitcross, Functional Training, and Aikido.
