Student services

The International Office has six main tasks:

  • Admission: credential evaluation of prospective students for the various NHTV programmes.
  • International Student Support: provide practical information on how to prepare your arrival and stay in The Netherlands.
  • Exchange & Double Degree Programmes: assist incoming and outgoing students before, during and after an exchange period.
  • Immigration procedures: assist students with their visa and residence permit applications.
  • Scholarship: provide prospective students and NHTV students with information on scholarships.
  • International Crisis Management

Housing services

Breda has a growing number of students and therefore accommodation in Breda can be scarce. For students it can be difficult to find a suitable place to live. Unfortunately, NHTV Breda has no campus or student rooms of its own and therefore NHTV relies on housing corporations in Breda. Rental prices for a student room in Breda vary from €300 to €500 a month, however it is more common to find a room for € 400.

Health and liability insurance All residents in the Netherlands are legally required to have adequate health insurance. Third-party liability insurance is highly recommended. You are legally required to have health insurance to cover any medical costs you may incur during your stay. We strongly advise you to take out a health insurance policy before you arrive.

Campus life

A sparkling and historical city in the south of Holland with a cheerful personality, that’s Breda! The combination of its rich history and numerous present-day activities makes Breda an inspiring city! During the course of years Breda has grown into a city with around 180,000 inhabitants. This cosy city centre makes it well-organised and pleasant to be in. Talk with the 'Bredanaars', let all the impressions move you and discover the true character of the city!

Sports facilities

BRESS (BREdase Studenten Sportstichting: Students’ Sports Foundation Breda)offers students the opportunity to practise a variety of sports. Get to know new people while improving your physical condition. Forget about your studies and all the worries that go with it for a while!

As a student from NHTV you can buy a sports card for a year or an half year and you can participate in over 50 different kinds of sports. The sports program consists of weekly sessions. Besides this BRESS organises courses varying from 4 to 10 weeks and competitions. You can also reserve a hall, track or field if you want to sport on your own time.

Student clubs

In a college city like Breda you will make many new friends in no time. There is a vivacious student society and numerous fraternities and sororities, which organise a wide variety of activities.
