The engineering departments (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology) continuied from the former Mannheim School of Engineering, established back in 1898.
All our Bachelor and Master programmes have been successfully accredited and provide graduates with direct access to the higher civil service and/or doctoral studies at other universities.
The standard period of study for Bachelor programmes at the Hochschule Mannheim is seven semesters. This includes one semester of work experience (internship) with a company or as other institution compatible to the course requirements. Many students take advantage of the University’s extensive international contacts to spend this semester abroad.
The standard period of study for Master programmes is three semesters. Graduates can also attend these programmes on a part-time basis after embarking on a professional career.
For many years the Hochschule Mannheim has been one of the most research-intensive universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg. As such, it enables its students to participate in a wide range of research and development projects prior to graduation.
The Career Centre offers seminars for all students on topics such as job application training, presentation techniques and time management. It also provides individual counselling during the transition from higher education to the career stage. The seminars and advisory services involve no extra charges for the students and graduates of the Hochschule can also avail themselves of these offers.

Mannheim has about 300,000 inhabitants from 167 nations. Openness and cultural diversity – this is what defines living in Mannheim. The city center, also called the Quadrate (squares), is framed by the rivers Rhine and Neckar. Housing in the Quadrate is in high demand. In total, Mannheim has 17 districts. All districts are well-connected to the University of Mannheim by public transport. We encourage you to also look for housing in the other districts of Mannheim, such as Neckarstadt, Jungbusch, Schwetzingerstadt, or Lindenhof.
All students have access to the modern University library and IT support from the Computer Centre.
There are several sports studios available for university sports, which are operated by the University of Mannheim and are therefore mainly attended by students. This creates a special student "community" atmosphere that characterizes all of our studios:

All seven of our social sciences programs have successfully undergone a program accreditation process, which was carried out on the national level by the accreditation agency evalag. Their accreditation is valid until 31 July 2023.
It was a good experience especially i was studying an interested topic which could lead the world further and further in the future. I have a master 1 in general physics and am looking forward to enhance my knowledge and experience in this field.
