The University of Houston-Victoria began as an effort in the late 1960s by the local community to bring a higher learning institution to Victoria. In 1973, after meetings with Texas legislators, community leaders succeeded in establishing an off-campus center of the University of Houston called the University of Houston Victoria Center.
The University of Houston-Victoria (UHV), a dynamic destination institution serving Texas and the world, is dedicated to providing every student educational and leadership opportunities to become a successful professional and an engaged global citizen. Innovative educational activities challenge students to make meaningful connections between their learning and their lives in a complex world. UHV promotes economic development and advances quality of life through teaching, research, and service excellence.
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness supports UHV decision-making in planning, evaluation, and program assessment for accrediting bodies and other internal and external stakeholders. The mission is accomplished through data collection, analysis and reporting; providing training to others in these activities; and monitoring and tracking the assessment activities associated with the institutional effectiveness process.
