  • Your degree may include opportunities for practical work or fieldwork, and you will learn the theory in group lectures, group discussions and through independent study. The balance of methods of teaching you will experience depend on the degree you choose.
  • The type and number of assessments you will need to complete depends on the degree you choose. Some degrees involve regular assessment. Some may be assessed with one final exam. Some may include both assessments and exams. You may submit coursework, essays and a final dissertation, take part in group work and presentations, or sit exams.
  • You can study a degree in Australia if you would like to explore your chosen subject in greater depth. 


  • UWA is a research-intensive university and is part of the internationally recognised Australian Group of Eight universities. With over 130 research and training centres, UWA attracts a high calibre of globally-recognised researchers and postdoctoral research students to carry out important projects.

  • At Taylors College CareerAhead is delivered within the Employability Skills (ESK) units, which are compulsory for all students.
  • ESK also focuses on the general skills required of all graduate employees such as your ability to work in a team, business/commercial awareness, communication and interpersonal skills, ability to plan organise and prioritise work, problem solving skills and digital skills. The module also looks at specific skills required for your chosen career, for example if you wish to study Law you will need to be able to reflect critically.

Student services

UWA helps you adapt to life in a new country by surrounding you with a network of support, including a Student Welfare Officer who can advise you on academic, career, health and wellbeing matters.

  • Academic Support Coordinator

You’ll find our Academic Support Coordinator on site each day to help you with any areas of study.

  • Tutorials

Free tutorials are scheduled daily for each subject. This is your time to speak to your teachers one-to-one, or in a small group.

  • Technologically advanced classrooms

Interactive whiteboards, fitted in most classrooms, enhance your learning experience.

Housing services

Known for their sense of community and diversity, UWA residences, University Hall, St Catherine’s College, St George’s College, Trinity College and St Thomas More College, are located a short bus ride from the Claremont Campus. 

Living here gives you the opportunity to live, socialise and make friends with over 2500 students from around the world, as well as from Australia.

  • All residences offer a range of student room options, with internet and telephone connections and shared bathrooms.
  • Delicious meals are provided every day, and all dietary requirements are catered. Meal plans are also available.
  • Most residences offer other services such as weekly cleaning, gym membership and more.
  • Residential colleges accept students 18 years of age and older.

Medical services

As a stipulation of your student visa, you are required to obtain overseas student health cover. The campus elected provider is Allianz. If you have opted to use Allianz, your healthcare card will be available on campus during orientation. If you have decided to go with another health insurance provider, you are responsible for knowing your health cover details.

  • Taylors College Perth is located at the UWA Claremont Campus, which offers an inspiring mix of historic buildings, green spaces and modern facilities.  
  • Claremont is a safe and peaceful area that is well served by public transport, so you’ll find that getting to and from class is simple. 
  • The main UWA campus is a short bus ride away, and you will have plenty of opportunity to explore the facilities there during your time at Taylors College Perth.

As a Taylors College student you will be a part of UWA’s friendly student community from day one. You’ll be able to enjoy an active student life and make new friends from all over the world, including Australia.

  • Lunchtime clubs, barbecues, river cruises and parties take place at UWA Claremont, where Taylors College is based 
  • UWA Sport offers a wide range of opportunities in sports such as football, rugby, tennis and cricket
