The Early Childhood offered by the University of Nairobi is an intervention programme to equip the teacher with knowledge, skills and attitudes about the childs total development: physical, cognitive, social emotional, religious and moral and thus contribute towards improving the status of children. The faculty has an already approved Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

Objectives of the course

At the end of the programme, the student should be able to:

General Requirements

To apply for the Education - Early Childhood Bachelor you must be:

  • A Holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum aggregate performance of C+ or its equivalent qualifications.
  • A holder of professional qualifications such as Diploma in Early childhood Education OR Diploma in Education OR Teachers Certificate (S1) from recognized institutions OR its equivalent qualifications.
  • A trained primary school teacher of P1 grade and minimum teaching experience of three years.
  • A holder of Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with a minimum of Two principal passes or its approved equivalent qualifications.
