The Communication Studies - Public Relations program at Southern Illinois University emphasizes strong writing, speaking, research, planning, and management skills by making you familiar with the wide range of disciplines required in the public relations field. In addition to courses in the Department of Communication Studies, courses in other departments such as marketing, journalism, psychology, management, and political science, will allow you to prepare for specific career objectives. You can obtain public relations experience while you are a student at SIUC through practicum or internship opportunities arranged with administrative offices at SIUC, with area businesses, or through student organizations such as the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the student PR agency, Pyramid Public Relations.

Choose from our more than 200 undergraduate programs (Majors) in eight different colleges. Determine if you meet our minimum requirements to a Bachelor's (undergraduate) program for:
- freshmen - fewer than 26 college credits
- transfer - more than 26 college credits
- Transcripts from high school and/or college
