Overview
The term Civil Engineering at York University was first used in the 18th Century to include all non-military-related engineering works.
Civil engineers design, build and maintain buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, canals, water treatment and distribution systems, sewage collection and treatment systems, waste management systems and other infrastructure needed by society. Civil engineers also play a huge role in development of mineral and energy sources and in protecting the environment.
At the Civil Engineering BEng course at York University students will have the opportunities to choose from a wide range of technical electives in structural, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, sanitary and environmental engineering.
