About

In an age of social change, the world needs skilled human services professionals. That's why the University of Arizona offers the Human Services program.

Overview

In this Human Services program from the University of Arizona you will gain the skills to become a paraprofessional, administrator, or educator in such diverse settings as group homes and halfway houses; correctional facilities, non-profit community-based organizations, behavioral health centers; family, child, and youth service agencies, programs concerned with veterans affairs, advocacy, health & wellness, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, drug abuse, family violence, and aging.

The College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) majors feature a common core of courses that develop writing, math, analysis, ethics, and critical thinking skills.

Human Services coursework focuses on workplace readiness, incorporating internship and senior capstone experiences. Students learn to think critically to solve real-world issues to promote accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and agencies in service delivery.

What can you do with a degree in human services?

Plenty! A bachelor’s degree in human services prepares you for entry-level positions in the helping professions. Opportunity areas include social services/nonprofits, gerontology, developmental disabilities, criminal justice/corrections, child welfare, healthcare, education, and private sector business and industry.
