Philosophers seek to answer questions of universal importance, about the nature of reality, the knowledge of the world, and the truth of the existence. On this course you will explore the full richness of philosophy, both past and present.

About

The courses span the range of philosophical questions and different philosophical traditions, ensuring you are able to achieve a balanced understanding of the subject. If your interests are life, the universe and everything in it, and you want to develop a rich set of life-enhancing skills, the power to influence others and initiate change, then Philosophy is for you.

In the study of politics, historical background, socio-economic indicators and ideological imperatives are analysed and cultural, gender and ethnic identities examined. We offer a variety of options to enable you to pursue your own interests, with increasing flexibility throughout the course. Topics include UK politics, political thought and theory, European politics, international politics and international relations, ?issue? politics (eg human rights, environmentalism, terrorism and conflict) and comparative politics. In the final year, you will engage with current academic debates and contemporary political developments. You will also have the option to undertake a dissertation in an area of your own choice, under one-to-one supervision.

Philosophers ask questions and try to understand the truth of our existence, taking notice of what?s going on in the world to get to the reality behind the appearance. Politics is the study of power and how power operates in all its forms; through individuals, structures, internationally and domestically.
