This Fashion Textiles and Design Honours degree at the Middlesex University has been designed with your future in mind. Your learning will be split equally between fashion and textile design and production so that you’ll graduate with a wide array of skills, opening up vast and varied employment opportunities across both fashion and textiles. Students will have the opportunity to learn skills across knit, weave, print, embroidery and embellishment, as well as learning to pattern cut and construct garments, producing fashion collections incorporating their own textiles.

Course Highlights
- You will explore the design and realisation of innovative textiles for fashion through print, knit, weave and embellishment, supported in each discipline by an expert tutor
- You will learn practical skills using our state-of-the-art facilities in The Grove
- You will take part in a six-week work experience placement in your second year during London Fashion Week, where you will be based full-time with the designer or practitioner of your choice
- At the end of your degree you will exhibit your work at the Degree Show, a great opportunity to show off your talents to creative industry employers
Career Opportunities
- Possible careers routes include fashion-textiles studio designer (for example textile print, knit or embellishment) and working in a variety of fashion contexts, including designing, making and collaborations with other designers. Other careers could include the performing arts - especially dance and theatre styling and branding.
- Middlesex has strong links with art and design employers. Industry partners give visiting lectures, and art and design agencies, organisations and other employers attend our final year degree show each year.

- All applications will be considered on their individual merit; successful applicants should demonstrate suitability, dedication and fitness for their chosen programme of study. All candidates are asked to submit evidence of previous production and creative practice, normally presented as a portfolio.
- As far as possible, students are required to attend an interview. This interview is to find out more about you, to better understand your aspirations and interests.
- You should also bring a full portfolio to the interview. It is expected that you have a portfolio of visual work that may be made up from projects undertaken at GCSE, A Level, BTEC, Foundation course or similar, and may also include independently created work. Portfolios must include / show: a keen interest in fashion and textiles; a good level of drawing / collage / mark-making; a sound communication of ideas.
