Overview
Key Features
The Engineering Technology – Civil Emphasis degree from West Virginia University Institute of Technology provides an opportunity to choose a plan to study toward a baccalaureate degree which best meets the student’s needs. Entrance requirements to this program include an associate of science degree in a civil engineering technology program with appropriate course work, including physical sciences and mathematics (through analytic geometry with calculus).
Graduates from BridgeValley Community and Technical College with an associate degree in civil engineering technology may transfer directly into the program as juniors. Graduates of associate degree in civil engineering technology or closely related programs from other institutions may enter the program directly as juniors based on an evaluation of their transcripts. This evaluation determines if additional lower division courses will be required to meet the prerequisites of the program.
Students may also transfer from civil engineering programs or programs related to civil engineering technology at a level dependent on an evaluation of their courses. Freshman students may gain admission to the civil engineering technology program if they have completed certain lower division courses at BridgeValley Community and Technical College or another institution.
All students must meet the requirements of the institution and the core curriculum for graduation. The program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET.
