Overview

The Science and Engineering Division provides the latest technology and instruction in the architecture, computer applications / programming & technologies, construction, engineering and science fields in the Oklahoma City area. The division strives to keep the latest technologies in the classroom and provide the best educational opportunity for all students. Many of the courses are transferable toward a Bachelor of Science degree at one of the state’s comprehensive universities. The Power Transmission and Distribution Technology program is offered at 

Classes are offered during the day and the evening to suit the various schedules of our students. Many of the degree programs offered have multiple options, which provide choices for the students and allow them to meet their individual needs. Industry partnerships help the division stay current with industry trends and provide internships, field trips and employment opportunities.

Faculty members are dedicated to working with students to develop a career path that meets the goals of the individual. Students also benefit from adjunct faculty that work in the field and bring their knowledge and skills into the classroom. This diverse group brings the academic and industrial work force together to provide the best possible education.

Coursework in electrical principles, safety, pole climbing, driver safety, high voltage transmission and distribution, and field work qualify the graduate to work in the numerous public and private power utilities around Oklahoma and the United States. Program graduates can expect to find employment in many segments of the power industry, normally start out in an apprenticeship program, and can expect to work up to a journeyman lineman position. Employment data indicates this will be a field with high demand for new employees.

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).
