During this (Hons) English Literature and Spanish programme at Swansea University you will have the chance to explore national and global literatures including Renaissance writings, Gothic and genre fiction, 19th century literature and contemporary fiction. Other topics include gender and culture, creative and professional writing. 

You will also become a scholar of the rich language, history and culture of Spain, Portugal and Latin America. 

You can further enhance your career prospects by spending a year in a Spanish-speaking country.

The English literature lecturers and professors are experienced writers whose work has been widely published, broadcast and performed and our Hispanic Studies staff specialise in research areas such as contemporary Spanish politics and Latin American literature.

In your third year, you will have the opportunity to live in Spain or Latin America and study at a university, teach or gain work experience.  


Over 97% of our English Single and Joint Honours graduates are in work or further study six months after graduation (DLHE 2013/14).

  • Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate - applicants will be able to meet our requirements from three A-levels or two A-levels and the Skills Challenge Certificate.
  • Extended Project Qualification - applicants predicted grade B or above in EPQ will receive an offer with a one-grade reduction.  e.g., an offer of AAB would become ABB plus EPQ B.
