About

The Health and Human Sciences (Honours) programme offered at the Southern Cross University is a separate fourth year of study which may be undertaken following successful completion of an undergraduate degree. As well as a completion point for tertiary study itself, Honours also represents the starting point for entry into further postgraduate research degrees.    

Overview

The Honours degree provides an indication of a student’s research potential and introduces students to basic research training.

Honours in health and human sciences is designed to develop a student’s research skills in an area of their interest. 

The Health and Human Sciences (Honours) course offered at the Southern Cross University provides students with a solid foundation for undertaking postgraduate study (Masters or PhD), as well as essential skills for careers involving research, policy or public/private consultancy work. 

Undertaking Honours builds high level skills for managing a project and developing independent research skills.

  • For undergraduate degrees, the required entry score uses the Australian Year 12 qualification which is measured by the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). Each course is given an ATAR is an indicative score for entry into the program, based on the previous academic year. 
  • When assessing applications against the relevant Academic Standards, the University will use accepted educational resources, including Australian Education International - NOOSR, UK NARIC, University Admissions Centre Assessment of Qualifications Manual and the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre Schedule to establish the Australian equivalence of an applicant’s overseas qualifications.
