The International Business with Italian programme at The University of Edinburgh encompasses the study of public, private and not-for-profit organisations, both small and large, their management practices and processes, and the changing external, and increasingly global, environment in which they operate.

About

International Business with Italian is a specialist programme at The University of Edinburgh designed to address internationalisation and globalisation of organisations, to reflect the dynamic climate of contemporary business and management.

International Business with Italian is a specialist programme within the MA Business programme portfolio and is designed to address the growing internationalisation and globalisation of business.

To reflect this, you are required, through the Year 3 exchange programme, to study abroad and experience at first hand different cultures and approaches and develop your understanding of the international environment. For students with good language skills, this will include foreign language study in Italy.

To participate in our study abroad programme, you will need to achieve an average mark of at least 55 per cent in Year 1 to be eligible to study abroad in Year 3.

Programme Structure

  • Year 1

You will study Global Challenges for Business and The Business of Edinburgh which introduce key concepts of management and business including strategy, finance, marketing and the management of people.

  • Year 2

You will study Business Research Methods I: Introduction to Data Analysis, International Business courses, and a course in Italian.

You may choose one or more options from the following business courses: Organisational Behaviour; Business Economics; Principles of Finance; Applications of Finance and more.

  • Year 3

You must spend Year 3 abroad at a partner university in Italy, completing and passing a full year's diet of examinable subjects in business (equivalent to 120 credits), the majority (75%) of which must be undertaken and examined in Italian.

  • Year 4

You will choose a minimum of three courses in international business or strategy, or an international business oriented dissertation and one international business designated course.

                          • SQA Highers: AAAA - AABB by end of S5. If you haven’t achieved this by the end of S5 we may consider your application based on a strong performance in S6. A minimum of BBB must be achieved in one set of exams and by end of S5.
                          • A Levels: AAB - ABB.
                          • IB: 40 points (grades 766 at HL) - 34 points (grades 655 at HL).
