Overview
Through the Aviation - Aeronautical Engineering degree from VIVES University of Applied Science we focus on MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) by optimising aircraft and helicopter maintenance. We are also very active in the VIVES DroneLab, where we develop industrial drone applications.
In the last year of your programme, you will choose a minor within the major Aeronautical Engineering: Manned Aviation or Unmanned Aircraft Systems. In the minor Manned Aviation, you’ll learn more about aircraft maintenance and aircraft production techniques. In the minor Unmanned Aircraft Systems, you’ll learn all about drone design, drone manufacturing, and drone maintenance.
Specialisation:
- Manned Aviation
Manned Aviation is a minor with the Aeronautical Engineering major of the bachelor’s degree Aviation.
Deepen your knowledge in helicopter and propeller systems, airplane maintenance, airplane production techniques, avionics, turbine engines, and aviation legislation. You’ll finish your degree with a national or international internship and a bachelor's thesis, which can also be part of an international project.
- Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Discover the broad applicability of drones in sectors such as agriculture, security and events, and acquire your knowledge directly from the research results of our own expertise centre DroneLab.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems is the minor within the major Aeronautical Engineering, and will be your specialisation during the final year of your programme. The use of drones (officially called Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems or RPAS) and the number of applications are increasing rapidly. VIVES even has a real DroneLab, where research has been conducted for years on how drones can be used for various purposes. Drones instead of tractors are no longer science fiction.
