Overview
The Respiratory Therapy program at Saint Leo University prepares students to become competent and compassionate healthcare professionals. The program emphasizes the knowledge and skills needed to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with respiratory disorders, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and emphysema. Students will learn how to conduct diagnostic tests, administer oxygen therapy, perform mechanical ventilation, and manage critical care patients.
The program combines didactic coursework with hands-on clinical experiences, giving students the opportunity to apply what they learn in real-world settings. The program is designed to meet the requirements of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), ensuring that graduates are eligible to take the credentialing exams and become licensed Respiratory Therapists.
