About Bachelor of Sciences at Jamia Millia Islamia

The Faculty of Natural Sciences was established in 1984 comprising of four Departments Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geography. Subsequently, the Departments of Biosciences, Computer Science and Biotechnology were added to the Faculty in 1987, 1999 & 2008, respectively. Now the Faculty has seven Departments.

The Faculty, through its various departments, offers Under-graduation, Post-graduation and PG Diploma courses in almost all Science streams along with the Ph.D. Programmes in every sphere of Science subjects. The Departmentsof the Faculty provide Doctoral Programmesindependently and also in collaboration with the reputed institutions of the country. The Faculty has interdisciplinary approach in teaching and an excellent record in scientific research.

Most of the teaching programmes of the Faculty are offered through its Department. However, the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. with Instrumentation) courses are directly administered by the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences. The Faculty also oversees the overall development and accomplishment of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences, Centre for Theoretical Physics, Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and Centre for Nanotechnology. The establishment of the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation Research Centre Facility, for which we are striving hard, is under pipeline. With the establishment of this Centre, one more achievement shall be accredited to the Faculty in such short span of time.
