Overview
The Architecture With Honours programme from University Putra Malaysia will take 7 semesters or 126 credit hours. Studio teaching is the major component in the curriculum. In the studios, students will learn how to integrate various skills and knowledge gathered from other courses in designing built form/architecture. This kind of exposure will provide them with the required skills to display students’ ability and creativity. The studio teaching will be coordinated by a lecturer with the help of a tutor or an associate professional architect.
Career prospects
Graduates of the programme are qualified to take on sub-professional positions such as an architectural assistant or any relevant posts in the government services.
Programme Structure
Courses included:
- The first year courses present the basic knowledge and skill involved in design to prepare a good foundation in architecture before advancing to the second year courses.
- The projects designed enable the students in understanding the meaning and the application of design elements and principles.
- The second year courses enhance the understanding in design incorporating basic building services, passive and acfive design strategies and moderate building construction systems.
- Courses taught in second year will focus on the technical aspects of architecture to assist students in designing a building.
- The third year courses prepared the student to be a competent Assistant Architect.
- Courses cover the complex building services systems and technical aspects in architecture including professional practive, planning and socio-cultural studies.
