Petroleum and Mining Geology

Overview

Petroleum and Mining Geology Program, Department of Geology, Faculty of Science at Tanta University, seeks to be pioneer at the local and regional levels regarding quality of distinguished technical education in fields of petroleum and mining that represents the foundation of economy in advanced countries.

This program offers foundations and bases for qualifying specialized graduates who are efficient in the field of petroleum and mining and able to compete inside homeland and abroad particularly in areas of excavation and mining for mineral resources, petroleum and natural gas. It aims to upgrade the concept of applied geology at the level of practice and outstanding scientific research.

Program Objectives

• To lay foundations for modern concept of geologist’s profession in field and lab practice and in distinguished scientific research.

• To prepare qualified cadres through offering specialized curricula according to bylaw of the program.
• To apply the most recent interactive systems in teaching and student participation in education and learning.
• To achieve close effective and continuous cooperation between Faculty of Science at Tanta University and faculties of Engineering in training and teaching.
• To raise graduates’ professional level after having training and to increase knowledge about applied geology.
• To participate in projects with unique research centers such as the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in area of petroleum and mining.
• To increase public interest in petroleum and mining to develop students’ awareness of national wealth.
• To sign cooperation protocols between the program and companies that work in fields of petroleum and mining.
