The (Hons) English Literatures and History course at University of Wolverhampton will promote your understanding of the political and ideological significance of literature, history and culture in a wide range of social and historical contexts, especially in relation to gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, class, and disability. Your studies will develop your awareness of the significance of ethical evaluations of literature and history, supporting an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion in literature, history and culture. You will be encouraged to reflect critically on literary production and reception, value and cultural capital in a variety of historical contexts.
You will have the opportunity to advance your understanding of the different forms, aesthetics, genres, and functions of literary and cultural texts in a variety of historical contexts. You will also be able to enhance your verbal, written and digital communication skills for developing and sustaining a professional career. This degree fosters your skills in critical and creative thinking, analysis, research, and problem-solving, for academic success and employment beyond your degree.
The course is designed to develop your confidence in making your voice heard, at university, in employment, and in culture and society. Graduates from this course will be extremely attractive to any employer in the education sector, holding qualifications in two key components of the national curriculum.
