Overview
About the Business with Travel and Tourism Management (Hons) course at University of Huddersfield
With over one billion international trips taken every year and generating 1 in 10 jobs (UNTWO), tourism is one of the biggest industries in the world and plays a key strategic role in the development of many destinations. Our course can give you the chance to gain the knowledge and skills to work in this fascinating and rewarding sector with business acumen. All of us look forward to our travels but we don’t often think about what goes on behind the scenes, the processes, systems and activities that mean we are able to travel and to enjoy ourselves while we’re away from home.
You will learn through practical application and creatively delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and group work sessions.
- This course will give you an introduction to the tourism sector that could stand you in good stead when you go on to a career in the industry.
- We’ll look at the issues affecting tour operators, travel agencies, online retailers, accommodation providers, visitor attractions and tourist boards.
- During the course you’ll have the chance to learn the fundamentals of successful business through the lens of tourism.
- You’ll develop your skills through a combination of research, practical experience and shared academic and industry knowledge.
- We’ll start by looking at business-related skills before applying them to all areas of the travel and tourism sector. In your final year you’ll take a more strategic approach and deal with issues related to sustainability.
