Overview

Visual Art is offered as a major concentration or as a minor at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). There are a wide range of courses in painting, drawing, book arts, printmaking, sculpture, installation, performance, digital and darkroom photography, social practice, digital media, sound, and video. In addition, you're encouraged to explore collaborative practices and relationships with students and faculty in visual and performing art as well as across the campus. Studios are well equipped and include drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, darkroom photography and state of the art computer labs.

We are creatively diverse, professionally active artists who share a common vision: we are deeply invested in helping you reach your creative and academic potential. Therefore our classes are intimate, supportive, and rigorous environments where you're encouraged to push your own boundaries by being creatively and intellectually ambitious.

Opportunities

You'll have numerous opportunities to exhibit your work in the student gallery at the Heller Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Galleries of Contemporary Art at UCCS (GOCA & GOCA 121) and in various venues throughout the city and region. You can join The Art Club (the student art history and art club), which sponsors workshops with nationally recognized artists, field trips to museums, curates exhibitions, and much more.
