Overview

Chemical engineers take science out of the laboratory and into the real world. They design, manufacture and help operate processes that turn raw materials into domestic and industrial products, including food and drink, pharmaceuticals, textiles, oil and gas, energy and water, cosmetics and everyday chemicals such as paints and household cleaning products.

Career opportunities

Chemical engineers have one of the highest earning potentials amongst the engineering professions and are employed in roles including research and development, design and plant operation.

They are involved in a range of sectors including the utilities, construction, defence, chemicals, oil and pharmaceuticals. The Chemical Engineering (Hons) graduates from Teesside University, are employed at companies such as BOC, Jacobs, Cummins and EDF.
