Students in this broadcast journalism program get hands-on experience as a storyteller and newscaster on the country’s first-ever CRTC-licenced college radio station.

urriculum for this journalism program includes how to pitch a story, interviewing and reporting, audio production and video skills, digital and social media, Almost 107 podcasting, research, journalism law and ethics, writing for on-air and online, newscasting and sportscasting, and voice development. The faculty have extensive journalism experience, and the broadcast industry connections to help you get started in a meaningful news career.

You’ll apply your skills through an internship within the final term to gain additional media experience, make professional contacts, and have the chance to get hired on full-time. Graduates of this broadcast journalism program work across the country and around the world in radio, television and digital news. The skills you will gain also cross over into communications work and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Fanshawe College is the first, and only, educational institution to receive the RTDNA Bill Hutton Award of Excellence for the betterment of broadcast journalism in Canada. Our journalism students have won over 75 RTDNF scholarships and have gone on to achieve success in the industry.

Anchor newscasts in an informative and entertaining way for radio, TV and digital platforms. Editorial judgement in writing, story choices, and line-up with attention to legal and ethics for credibility.

• Digital Content Producer

Prepare news articles and deliver breaking news quickly to digital and social news platforms. Create and leverage multimedia including video, audio, photos, and social media.
