Year in industry

This Chemistry with Research Abroad and a Year in Industry MSci programme offered at Imperial College London allows you to gain paid experience of using chemistry in an industrial context by undertaking a year in industry between your third and final year.

You will be expected to help the Department organise your placement, however help is available:

  • The Careers Service advertises placement vacancies on its online vacancy system, JobsLive.
  • The Department of Chemistry has a dedicated Industrial Liaison Officer who advertises opportunities and provides support with the application process.

Careers

Chemistry informs everything, from developing new pharmaceuticals that will help fight disease, to mitigating climate change. This means our graduates are recruited into practically every branch of industry.

  • A in Chemistry
  • A in Mathematics
  • A in another subject (Biology,  Economics and Physics are preferred)

  • 6 in Chemistry at higher level
  • 6 in Mathematics at higher level
  • 6 in a third subject at higher level (Biology, Economics and Physics are preferred)

Advanced Placements: minimum requirement for this course is grades 5, 5, 5 to include:

  • 5 in Chemistry
  • 5 in Calculus BC
  • 5 in another subject
