Career Opportunities

This Engineering Technology course at DeVry University prepares students to apply basic engineering principles. You’ll study automation and information technologies relevant to many applications, such as industrial processes, healthcare systems, transportation of goods and electrical power delivery.

With a Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology, you can consider careers including, but not limited to:

• Electrical Engineering Technologist As an electrical engineering technologist, you’ll help electrical engineers through all aspects of their projects. Depending on the specific role, you might develop layouts of electrical transmission systems, supervise workflows and perform cost estimates. Or you might work hands-on installing and maintaining electrical equipment, electrical control systems or industrial automation systems.
• Manufacturing Engineering Technologist Manufacturing engineering technologists wear many hats. Job duties focus on designing, developing and implementing equipment, machinery and technologies to improve manufacturing processes. You may be responsible for analyzing existing processes to look for areas for improvement, making recommendations and then implementing solutions.

• Computer Network Support Technician As the name suggests, network support technicians focus on the development and maintenance of IT networks. Your role might include upgrading networks and repairing errors, monitoring performance, optimizing servers and improving security for both networks and data.
• Engineering Technologist (General) If you have a broad range of interests, this could be a great position for you. Rather than specializing in just one area, such as electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, a general engineering technologist has the skills and knowledge to solve problems across many different types of engineering.
