Overview
This Education for Inclusive Environments major from Western Washington University provides coursework and practica that leads to a recommendation for a residency teaching certificate with both elementary and special education endorsements. The program is rigorous and the expectations are high. However, the rewards are also high. Our graduates are actively recruited by school districts to teach in both elementary classrooms and special education settings.

Therefore, this program provides candidates with the understandings and skills necessary to navigate the complex systems of teaching and learning within the school and community environments. This program also focuses upon skills necessary to meet the needs of students with high-incidence disabilities who are typically taught in regular elementary classrooms.
Learning outcomes
Students seeking a bachelor’s degree with teacher certification and an endorsement in Special Education - P-12 through Teacher Education Outreach Programs located in Bremerton and Everett must complete the Elementary Education Professional Program - Outreach Program and the Education for Inclusive Environments requirements. Program coursework listed below is delivered through a cohort-based, integrated model that is jointly delivered by elementary and special education faculty. This program is specifically designed for outreach program sites. Courses must be completed with a grade of C (2.0) or better.
