Paramedics are responsible for providing pre-hospital advanced life support and rescue services to critically ill or injured patients. The Emergency Medical Care program at Durban University of Technology consists of both theoretical and practical components. Some of this work integrated learning will include night shifts. The learners also gain clinical experience through working in hospitals and clinics in specialized units such as intensive and coronary care, maternity and casualty.
