Overview
Materials Science and Engineering from University of Silesia in Katowice contents delivered within the ‘materials science’ speciality enable educating specialists equipped with the knowledge of the most recent achievements of physics, chemistry and metallurgy related to obtaining modern materials and modelling them, taking into account the modern manufacturing technologies (e.g. nanotechnologies).
Graduates of this speciality have the skill of comprehensive functional assessment of diverse material groups, of current analysis of their practical parameters, important for the processes of materials manufacturing and processing for specific applications. Students during the studies acquire the skill of using the scientific-technical information and have the knowledge allowing an efficient communication with teams of people.
Careers
Graduates are prepared to work in a variety of environments: industrial enterprises – manufacturing, processing or using engineering materials, small and medium-size businesses - including enterprises which trade engineering materials and instruments for testing; research institutions and R&D centers; institutions involved in counselling and dissemination of knowledge in the field of materials engineering, materials technology and computer technology; and design and consultancy offices and institutions developing and operating computer IT systems used in materials engineering.

- Bachelor’s diploma and supplement with grades (both with apostille stamp or consular legalization) and translation to Polish (prepared by a Polish sworn translator) – for candidates for MA studies,
- Medical certificate stating no contradictions to undertaking studies on the chosen programme – if required,
- Language certificate (confirming competence in the language of studies, B2 level at least).
