Overview
This three-year Interior Architecture and Design (with preparatory semester) (Hons) course from London Metropolitan University is the ideal choice if you need some introductory study before undertaking an undergraduate degree but don’t need to complete a full foundation year. Unlike a foundation year, which is designed to let you explore a wide range of subjects, this course will focus on providing you with skills specific to the study of interior architecture and design.
You will complete this degree in three years, starting in September. Following the preparatory semester you’ll join students starting on the standard course in January. This means that Year 1 will consist of three semesters and you’ll be required to study at the University during some of the summer between Year 1 and 2. During the subsequent two years of your studies you’ll follow the same schedule and study the same content as students on the Interior Architecture and Design BA (Hons) course.
While you may make a considerable saving in time and fees by choosing this route over a four-year degree with a foundation year, do be aware that you’ll have to budget for the additional semester in your first year.
Where this course can take you
This course is collaborative in nature as it prepares you to work as a specialist in design or architectural practices. Therefore you’ll find a range of opportunities within roles where you have to work across disciplines and rely on skills that are beyond the purely creative.
There will also be opportunities to study design or architecture at postgraduate level.
