It offers common modules at level 4 setting the background and covers electrical machines, power electronics and electrical services to buildings etc. at L5 to serve as an intermediate for more advanced treatment of related topics at L6. At L6 more detailed power systems engineering, electrical energy converters as well as systems for (built) environmental services are covered alongside a comprehensive module on renewable energy.
The combination of these modules will enable graduates to acquire knowledge of, and skills to apply, in the modern Electrical Power engineering area, which encompasses not only traditional power systems and electrical energy conversion but also electrical systems in building services area and the use and application of power electronics in designing systems for renewable energy.
The BEng (Hons) Electrical Power Engineering programme aims to produce graduates who have acquired and can use a broad base of active knowledge in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Power Electronic applications in the areas of energy conversion and renewable energy technologies, Electrical building services etc, and the skills necessary to update, extend and deepen it for career development or further study.
