The Pop Music course is based on the Popular Music course at the former "Hochschule für Kunst, Design und Populäre Musik" (hKDM for short) and is continued by the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences with its top-class team of professors and lecturers.

Creating your own compositions as a pop musician

In the Music B.A. programme with a specialisation in pop music, the focus is on stylistic diversity, interdisciplinarity, new media and an international approach. You will perfect your skills on your main instrument and acquire in-depth knowledge of pedagogy and music production.

The aim of the first five semesters is to lay a solid foundation. During this time, the artistic and technical groundwork is established. In addition to the technical and theoretical basics, this includes the ability to express oneself authentically in a wide variety of musical styles. In semesters 6 and 7, students gain practical experience in the music business and work on sharpening their personal artistic profile. Artistic crossover projects and unique music research projects offer a special practical relevance during their studies.

Graduates of the Pop Music programme are well trained to work successfully as music artists or music teachers in the fields of stage performance, film and recording studios, music publishers and educational institutions. Our networks and cooperation partners, such as the Berklee College of Music, also make it possible to enter the international music business.
