Overview
By taking the Healthcare Science (Neurophysiology) (Hons) programme from Swansea University you will learn about the function of the nervous system and the conditions that affect it, such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and nerve and muscle dysfunction.
As you progress, you will develop the understanding and confidence to undertake specialist procedures in neurophysiology, combining your in-depth academic work with practical clinical skills in a range of specialised healthcare settings.
Neurophysiology is an exciting field that requires a high level of responsibility and problem-solving ability. As a neurophysiologist, you will frequently carry out investigations in dedicated environments or departments, such as intensive care settings and operating theatres, working with patients of all ages.
Career
There is currently a shortage of neurophysiologists in the UK, so job prospects are excellent. The NHS starting salary for Neurophysiologists is around £24,214, rising to £43,772.
There are also many opportunities to work in research, education, management, and the private sector.
Nearly 100% of our Healthcare Sciences students go on to work in their chosen profession within six months of graduating (Destination of Leavers Survey), and there are also excellent opportunities for further study to Master’s and doctoral level as your career progresses.
