Throughout the course you will develop strong partnerships with other professional groups across the health and social care interface, including the voluntary and third sectors.


This course will help you to develop your career as a General Practice Nurse.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

  • As a guide a 10 credit module requires a notional 100 hours of study comprised of 21 hours attendance at study days in the College, 21 hours of learning in practice and the remainder as self directed study, over a period of 15 weeks. 
  • A range of assessment methods are used to assess your learning including reflective essays, narrative essays, case studies, case based discussion, OSCE, presentations, clinical portfolio, multiple choice questions and unseen examination.

To apply for this course you will need: 

  • A registered practitioner on the respective part (1,2,7,8,12 or 15) of the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) register
  • Normally have one year’s experience post qualification as a registered practitioner
  • Possess 120 credits at level 5 (diploma level)
