Graduates typically work on the job site for a probationary period of time before landing an entry-level position in the construction technology career field with basic supervision skills required to work in carpentry, finishing works, electrician, plumbing, or related fields in addition to preparing the construction methods statements, safety plans, quality control system, building codes and quantity takeoffs. The certificate can be used as a stepping stone towards promotions and pay raises for individuals already employed in the construction industry.
The requirements for the Construction Technology Certificate at Southern Utah University are integrated into the Construction Technology associate degree for those interested in pursuing a two-year associate degree. The requirements for the two-year associate degree in Construction Technology are integrated into the four-year bachelor degree in Construction Management for those students interested in pursuing a four-year bachelor degree. With proper advising, students who complete a 4-year bachelor degree in Construction Management can graduate with the certificate, associate, and bachelor degrees.
