The Bachelor of Arts Liberal Studies Education (Year 2 and 3 Entry only) (Honours) from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) aims to:

  • provide students with the knowledge and concepts required for interdisciplinary inquiry;
  • enhance students' understanding of the interplay and interactions of the family, society, Hong Kong, China and the world;
  • enable students to acquire various methods and skills in critically examining issues and problems in real-life context;
  • equip students with the competency in social sciences, education and interdisciplinary studies;
  • provide students with the academic and professional foundation to become professionals in educational institutions, community work, government and non-government organizations, cultural groups, and private corporations;
  • lay a strong foundation for career advancement and further academic pursuits in the related areas of studies.

Career Prospects/Professional Qualifications

The programme is a passport to a wide range of employment opportunities including positions such as teaching/education assistants, educational/social researchers, civil servants and other related services, educational officers in NGOs, editors/editorial assistants in business/publication companies as well as media workers and journalists.

Students may choose to pursue a teaching career by completing an additional year of professional teacher training (e.g. Full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education). Qualified teachers who can teach interdisciplinary subjects in primary and secondary schools are in high demand in Hong Kong.

Students interested in further studies after graduation may pursue the Faculty's Masters programmes.

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

General Requirements

  • Applicants are normally required to complete Grade 12 studies on a full-time basis in high school and they may also need to fulfill the subject entrance requirements and/or language requirements. 
  • Due to quota limit, applicants having satisfied the University's entrance requirements will be considered for admission on a competitive basis. 
  • Eligible applicants may be requested to attend interviews for further assessment. 
  • Holding minimum requirement does not guarantee admission to the University.
