Created for first-time freshmen, the Student Success Pathway program from California State University Northridge helps students develop the academic and English-language skills needed to succeed at CSUN.

Student Success Pathway gives you:

  • eligibility for admission to CSUN
  • 15 units of transferable academic credits towards graduation
  • integrated classes with CSUN students
  • the ability to enroll in CSUN summer classes

As a Pathway student, you will receive the following benefits:

  • Conditional admission - Receive pre-approved admission to CSUN if you maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher in all of your university credit courses and meet the university’s English-proficiency admission requirements.
  • Guaranteed enrollment - Be pre-enrolled in courses that provide six units in the Fall semester and nine units in the Spring semester.
  • Classes with CSUN students - Take university courses alongside degree-seeking students.
  • Tutoring - Obtain tutoring from highly trained, master’s-level instructors.
  • Campus access - Gain access to the university’s fitness and health centers, as well as student clubs, intramural sports, the library and much more.
  • Student support services - Receive ongoing advising on student life, academics, immigration and more.
  • Residential life - Live in dorms on campus or in apartments around CSUN.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
