Overview
The AI and Robotics (Hons) program offered by Staffordshire University is underpinned by solid traditional teaching in each area, providing great employment opportunities within these fields. We offer an optional foundation year for those who wish to re-enter into education, retrain or simply wish to obtain the perfect skills for entry to the award.
You’ll start by studying modern software languages: - Java, Python, Computer Hardware with Electronics and Mechanics to give you a solid start to your career.
You’ll then extend your skills in areas such as 3D Robotic design, Programming Micro-controllers in C, AI Basics, CISCO networking, C++ and even the Ethics of Living in a Robotic Society.
Finally you’ll complete a dissertation and professionally designed modules such as: Robotic Vision, Artistic Synthetic face/ eye creation, Windows Programming in C++, which will enable you to enter the world of employment.
To develop your knowledge and understanding of your discipline you’ll have the opportunity to complete an industrial placement between the second and third year of your course. This is also a great opportunity to further develop both your learning and to make valuable contacts for future employment.

You’ll find graduates from our Computer Science disciplines working in many computing areas – Graduates from our Computer Science degrees have gone on to work in a whole range of related occupations. Previous roles include: real-time designer, robotic engineer, machine learning engineer, research and design engineer, business intelligence developer, computer vision engineer, and computer engineer.
