The Policy Studies programme taught at Roosevelt University offers students critical research, analysis and collaboration skills that are highly sought after in the emerging economy. Our graduates are equipped not only with these transferrable skills, but also with a solid foundation of knowledge about government that will serve them well in any number of careers.

About

Political science is the study of the collective decisions that shape our common fate. Political scientists study topics including the outcome of elections, the acquisition and exercise of power, the causes of war, the design and function of electoral systems; the history of political thought; the adoption and implementation of public policies; the comparative efficacy of political systems around the world; the operation of legal systems, and many more.

The Policy Studies programme taught at Roosevelt University is appropriate for students considering careers in law, political campaigns and elections, public policy, social advocacy, foreign service and diplomacy, non-governmental organizations, intelligence work, civil service and many more. Because politics is the key to understanding how American democracy functions, as well as how power is contested in other societies and in the global arena, many global leaders in the United States and around the world majored in political science, including several members of the U.S. Supreme Court, President Barack Obama, Secretaries of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton, former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Careers

Students with an undergraduate degree in political science may find employment in local, state or federal government, elections and campaigning, diplomacy and international affairs, advocacy organizations, nonprofit organizations, education, journalism and business.
