Overview
The healthcare industry in Canada and around the world is growing rapidly. Within this industry, the use of sophisticated electronic, computer-controlled and networked equipment that is now the norm and requires a skillset that includes the ability to install, calibrate, maintain and manage the life cycle of critical medical equipment. Biomedical engineering technologists are an essential part of a health-care team because they have these skills.
To help meet the demand, the Biomedical Engineering Technology programme offered by the Durham College has turned to new and innovative medical technology to improve diagnosis, monitoring and treatment - in doing so health care providers have become dependent on the technology to function properly, to be available, and to be managed in a cost effective and efficient manner by qualified biomedical engineering technolgists.
