The Accounting and Finance (Hons) with business experience course at Kingston University is designed to give you the experience of working in a fast paced professional environment. You'll be given access to Thomson, Datastream, Hydra and Fame databases meaning you will have access to real-world data, gaining familiarity with the technology used in the financial workplace.

This degree comes 'with business experience', which includes the following:

  • The Business Readiness Programme develops your business skills and qualities so that you hit the ground running on the first day of your work internship or graduate job. 
  • Business Practice gives you the opportunity to gain valuable, real-life and hands-on experience.  In the second year, from May, you will gain a minimum of three months hands-on experience from a choice of:

Work internship

A work internship where you will work within a business in a role linked to your degree or area of interest.  This work experience is invaluable on your CV in helping to secure a job after you graduate. 

Research placement

A research placement in which you will support an academic in their area of research.  This is ideal if you are considering an academic career or would like to continue on to a masters course.

Careers and progression

This course is ideal for:

  • gaining professional accounting qualifications;and/or
  • using accounting and finance in a variety of roles and organisations.

Past graduates have gone to work at, for example, Bloomberg, the NHS and Tesco, or at small/medium sized firms. We've also had students gaining training contracts with the ‘Big Four', including Deloitte and KPMG. Others have chosen to continue their education with postgraduate study.


This course is accredited by the Association of Corporate Treasurers and offers exemptions from their professional exams.
