Enrichment opportunities

In addition to coursework, you'll have a variety of ways to practice your knowledge and skills enriching your FSU experience.

• Step into the studio and start gaining experience in front of the cameras or behind the scenes with FSU-TV3, Frostburg’s student-run, 24/7 educational channel available on campus and in homes around the Frostburg area.
• Explore the world of radio and create your own show on XFSR, Frostburg’s student-run intranet radio station. FSU is also home to NPR-affiliate 91.9 WFWM.
• Take part in the Annual Frosty Awards Show, which showcases creative student media projects.

• Share breaking news on campus or start your own special interest column writing for The Bottom Line, FSU’s student newspaper.

Graduates of FSU’s Mass Communications program enjoy a huge variety of options within communications careers and a skill set that translates well into almost any field. The job market holds the best prospects for graduates with experience, who have honed their skills with internships, school newspapers or work in a TV or radio studio, all of which are options at FSU. Movement within the industry towards electronic formats places greater value on experience with web design and multimedia work.
