Overview
At the Robert Gordon University studying the BA Three Dimensional Design (Hons) you will explore methods of design thinking and making skills including 3D modelling and Adobe CAD training, design drawing and visualisation, ceramics, glass, metalwork and rapid prototyping in plastics and metal. You will have the opportunity to participate in industry-linked projects, design internships, live competitions and public facing events, which will help develop your professional design skills and get you ready for the real world of work. There are three named degree awards; Product Design, Ceramics and Glass and Jewellery Design.
You will experience traditional making skills and techniques whilst broadening your knowledge of advanced digital design and fabrication methods.
Job Prospects
This course is built to provide you with transferable design and business skills to operate confidently in a wide range of design careers within the creative sector. These include working with product and industrial design consultancies, within the manufacturing and retail sectors and setting up as an independent freelance designer.
Recent graduates can also apply to our Graduate in Residence (GiR) scheme which supports the next stage of their professional journey, whether this involves setting up a business, applying for postgraduate study or building a portfolio.
