Data analytics extends to multiple areas, including aerospace, automotive, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, computer engineering, computer science, information technology, nanotechnology, nuclear physics, photonics, robotics, semiconductors, and telecommunications.

Health Informatics

Health care spending is projected to reach $5.5 trillion by 2025, 20 percent of gross domestic product, and health informatics will be the key to harnessing this spending in a way that supports the best health outcomes for all members of the population. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, health services professions are expected to grow by 23 percent from 2012 to 2022. Data science students interested in applying their skills to the massive health field are encouraged to consider this concentration. Students will learn about the rapidly evolving health analytics area, the specific knowledge bases and challenges of the health sector and will be positioned to make a meaningful impact to the lives and health of many.

After completion of the B.S in Data Analytics, students will be able to:

  • have an in-depth knowledge of fundamental data science concepts
  • analyze a given data science problem and be able to formulate a correct solution in terms of the datasets needed, the learning techniques required and the software technologies to be utilized
  • turn data into actionable insights by using advanced analytics, visualization, reporting and machine learning
  • understand relevant statistical concepts and know how to apply these to data science problems in practice
  • apply emerging artificial intelligence technologies to applicable problems

English Language Requirements

  • Test Score Requirements - FLORIDA POLY requires freshman applicants to submit official results of at least one college entrance exam (SAT or ACT)
  • Average Grade Point Average: 3.9 weighted, including any additional credit from: Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certificate of Education or, Honor courses completed in high school
  • Complete the International Admission application. ($30, non-refundable fee)
  • Complete the I-20 Application Form
  • Provide a copy of your passport
  • Provide proof of available funds to cover the cost of the first year of study (including miscellaneous expenses)
