The purpose of the Health and Physical Education is to prepare exemplary health and physical education teachers to promote physically active and healthy lifestyles.  Wright State University is one of the few programs in Ohio to offer a license in both health and physical education within a four-year undergraduate program.

Overview

The Health and Physical Education program from Wright State University provides innovative course to develop the knowledge and skill of teaching health and physical education. 

Education

The program prepares teachers to implement curriculum aligned with state standards and assessments in both health and physical education.  Future teachers practice their craft in a series of progressive field experiences culminating in a semester student teaching experience in health and physical education.  

Students also gain additional experience with K-12 students in courses throughout the program.  Unique courses in Adventure Education and Teaching Fitness in Physical Education provide the opportunity for students to earn certifications in National Archery in the Schools Program and the Physical Best fitness program.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

To apply to Wright State University, you must have earned a certificate of completion from a secondary education school that would allow you to attend university in your home country. You should have studied mathematics and science subjects at the secondary level.

  • Official high school transcript including senior schedule
  • Partial at time of application, final transcript with graduation date posted upon completion of your senior year
