The Family and Community Service program of Oklahoma Baptist University offers high quality upper division courses and advisement designed to prepare students for a wide variety of careers related to Family and Community Service as well as providing graduates with a solid foundation for postgraduate study. The experiences assist and encourage students as they continue the process of understanding the nature of their personal Christian commitment and seek to integrate these insights into their academic disciplines and their vocational choices.

What makes an OBU Family and Community Service degree special?

The FCS degree prepares students for a variety of people-helping service careers. There is great flexibility in the application of skills. It is generalized training for anyone wanting to address the needs of families. It has application in ministry as well as the secular workforce.

What are OBU grads doing with their Family and Community Service degrees?

Most students with this focus are working for social service agencies or attending graduate school. Currently, one of our grads is working at the local county family shelter helping families cope with various issues. Another is working for a county agency with teens that are experiencing difficulties in their families.

We also have many students in graduate school training. Some are in Marriage and Family Therapy programs at Oklahoma Baptist University, Friends University and Oklahoma State University. Others are in graduate programs in Masters of Social Work at the University of Oklahoma, University of Texas, John Brown University and Baylor University.
